News Release
*** TROUGH AND ANOTHER COLD FRONT TO INFLUENCE THE WEATHER ACROSS JAMAICA ***
In the wake of the Cold Front that has impacted the weather over the past couple days, a Trough across the western Caribbean is expected to move across the island late Tuesday night, and linger through to Thursday.
This Trough is forecast to produce cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, over sections of most parishes, especially northern parishes, from early Wednesday through Thursday.
Additionally, another Cold Front is projected to impact the island on Friday. Although weaker than the system currently influencing the weather, expect cool temperatures and strong gusty winds Friday and into the weekend, especially across northern parishes.
Fishers and other marine interests are advised to exercise extreme caution during this period as sea conditions are expected to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, and due to strong gusty winds beginning Friday.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor these systems.
