*** FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT ***
The Meteorological Service has continued the Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of eastern and central parishes until 5:00 p.m. today.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
A Trough across Jamaica and the central Caribbean continues to influence weather conditions across the island. Satellite imagery indicates cloudy conditions across most parishes last night into this morning.
The Trough is expected to remain across the central Caribbean, including Jamaica until Tuesday. The forecast therefore, is for periods of showers and thunderstorms which could be heavy at times, to continue to affect mainly eastern and central parishes. Therefore, flash flooding is possible.
Fishers and other marine interests are advised to exercise caution, as gusty winds and rough seas are likely in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
