NEWS RELEASE

****...INCREASED RAINFALL ACROSS JAMAICA WEDNESDAY THROUGH TO FRIDAY...***

A broad surface Trough across the central Caribbean is currently influencing the weather conditions across Jamaica. The Trough will linger across the region until Friday, Thereafter, it will move toward the east.

As a result of the Trough, cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms are affecting sections of most parishes. The forecast is for the cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to continue and increase in intensity this afternoon (Wednesday) across most parishes. The showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday with a reduction in rainfall on Saturday as the Trough moves out of the region.

Fishers and other marine interests should exercise caution, especially across the south coast, as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
