...*** FLASH FLOOD WATCH ***..

***FLASH FLOOD WATCH DISCONTINUED FOR EASTERN AND SOUTH-CENTRAL PARISHES***

The Meteorological Service has:
• Discontinued the Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Portland, St. Mary, Kingston and St. Andrew and St. Catherine.

• Effective immediately.

• The Trough across Jamaica coupled with a newly-formed area of low pressure across the southwestern Caribbean Sea continues to produce unstable weather conditions across the western Caribbean.

• Satellite imagery and rainfall reports indicate reduced rainfall throughout today across eastern and south-central parishes. However, the Trough and low pressure system are expected to strengthen tonight into tomorrow morning, resulting in an increase in unstable weather conditions across the island tomorrow through to Wednesday.

• Hence, the forecast is for lingering showers tonight, followed by periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, to affect sections of most parishes beginning tomorrow morning. As a result, a Flash Flood Watch or Warning may be required.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
