FLASH FLOOD WATCH

***FLASH FLOOD WATCH DISCONTINUED FOR NORTHWESTERN PARISHES…EXTENDED FOR REMAINING NORTHERN PARISHES***

The Meteorological Service has:

• Discontinued the Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Hanover and St. James, effective immediately.

• Continued the Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Trelawny, St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland, effective until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow.

• The Stationary Front continues to produce unstable weather conditions across the island, but, current projections are for the system to gradually weaken and dissipate on Thursday.

• Satellite imagery and rainfall data indicate that showers affected sections of mainly north-central and eastern parishes today.

• The forecast is for periods of showers, which could be heavy at times, to continue tonight and into early Thursday.

• A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.


The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
