FLASH FLOOD WATCH

*** FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FOR ALL NORTHERN PARISHES **

The Meteorological Service has continued:
• A Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Hanover, St. James, Trelawny, St. Ann, and now includes St. Mary and Portland.
• Effective until 5:00 p.m. today.
• A Stationary Front across the island continues to produce unstable weather conditions.
• Satellite imagery and rainfall data indicate that moderate showers have been affecting sections of these parishes throughout last night.
• The forecast is for periods of showers, which could be heavy at times, to continue across the island today into tonight.

• A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.


The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
