*** MICHAEL PRODUCING LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH CAROLINA AND VIRGINIA ***

At 4:00 p.m., the centre of Tropical Storm Michael was located near latitude 36.1 North, longitude 78.8 West or about north-northwest of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Michael is moving toward the northeast near 39 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue with an increase in forward speed through tonight. A turn toward the east-northeast at an even faster forward speed is expected on Friday and Saturday.
On the forecast track, the centre of Michael will move across eastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia this evening, and move into the western Atlantic Ocean tonight.

Maximum sustained winds are near 85 km/h with higher gusts. Michael is forecast to intensify as it becomes a post-tropical low over the Atlantic late tonight and Friday.

Tropical Storm Michael is not a threat to Jamaica.

*** LESLIE MOVING QUICKLY TOWARD THE EAST ATLANTIC ***

At 4:00 p.m. the centre of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 29.9 North, longitude 36.5 West or about 1255 km southwest of the Azores. Leslie is moving toward the east-northeast near 35 km/h. A continued east-northeast motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through Friday. Leslie is forecast to slow down and turn toward the east or east-southeast by Saturday. On the forecast track, Leslie will pass near Madeira Island by late Saturday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 140 km/h with higher gusts. Some fluctuations in intensity are possible tonight and early Friday, but steady weakening is forecast to begin by Friday night.

Hurricane Leslie is not a threat to Jamaica.

*** TROPICAL STORM NADINE GETTING WEAKER***

At 4:00 p.m. the centre of Tropical Storm Nadine was located near latitude 14.5 North, longitude 34.9 West, or 1130 km west of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands.
Nadine is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 km/h, and this general motion is expected tonight and early Friday. A turn toward the west with an increase in forward speed is anticipated by Friday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 85 km/h with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Gradual weakening is expected during the next couple of days, and Nadine is forecast to degenerate into a trough of low pressure over the weekend.

Tropical Storm Nadine is not a threat to Jamaica.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
