*** ...EYE OF MICHAEL APPROACHING EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHWEST GEORGIA... ...LIFE-THREATENING STORM SURGE AND CATASTROPHIC WINDS CONTINUE... ***



At 4: 00 p.m. the eye of Hurricane Michael was
located near latitude 30.9 North, longitude 85.1 West
or 50 km west of Bainbridge, Georgia. Michael is
moving toward the north-northeast near 26 km/h. A turn
toward the northeast is expected this evening or tonight. A motion
toward the northeast at a faster forward speed is forecast on
Thursday through Friday night. On the forecast track, the core of
Michael will move across southeastern Alabama and southwestern
Georgia through this evening. Michael will then move northeastward
across the southeastern United States through Thursday, and
then move off the Mid-Atlantic coast away from the United States
on late Thursday night and Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 205 km/h with higher
gusts. Michael is a dangerous category 3 hurricane on the
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Michael should weaken as it
crosses the southeastern United States through Thursday. Michael is
forecast to strengthen Thursday night and Friday when it moves off
the east coast of the United States and becomes a post-tropical
cyclone on Friday.



Tropical Storm Nadine is not a threat to Jamaica.

At 4:00 p.m. the centre of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 27.8 North, longitude 41.9 West or 179 km southwest of the Azores. Leslie is moving toward the east near 6 mph 9 km/h. A faster motion toward the east-northeast will likely begin by tomorrow, and this general motion should continue through the early weekend.

Maximum sustained winds are near 120 km/h with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast during the next day or two, but weakening should begin by Friday.

Hurricane Leslie is not a threat to Jamaica.

At 4:00 p.m. the centre of Tropical Storm Nadine was located near latitude 13.1 North, longitude 32.2 West or 860 km west southwest of the Southernmost Cabo Verde Islands. Nadine is moving toward the northwest near 13 km/h, and this general motion is anticipated during the next day or so. A turn toward the west-northwest or west is forecast to occur on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 100 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is expected during the next couple of days, and Nadine is forecast to degenerate into a trough of low pressure over the weekend.
