*** HURRICANE MICHAEL MOVING THROUGH THE GULF OF MEXICO ***

At 4:00 a.m., the centre of Hurricane Michael was located near latitude 24.1 North, longitude 85.9 West or about 680 km south of Panama City, Florida. Michael is moving toward the north-northwest near 19 km/h. A north-northwestward to northward motion is expected through tonight, followed by a northeastward motion on Wednesday and Thursday. On the forecast track, the center of Michael will continue to move over the southern Gulf of Mexico this morning, then move across the eastern Gulf of Mexico later today and tonight.

The centre of Michael is expected to move inland over the Florida Panhandle of Florida Big Bend area on Wednesday, and then move northeastward across the southeastern United States Wednesday night and Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 150 km/h with higher gusts. Strengthening is expected, and Michael is forecast to be a major hurricane at landfall in Florida. Weakening is expected after landfall as Michael moves through the southeastern United States.

Hurricane Michael is not a threat to Jamaica.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.

*** LESLIE FORECAST TO SLOWLY STRENGTHEN OVER THE EAST-CENTRAL ATLANTIC ***

At 4:00 a.m., the centre of Tropical Storm Leslie was located near latitude 32.2 North, longitude 43.9 West or about 1665 km west southwest of the Azores. Leslie is moving toward the south-southeast near 20 km/h. A slower motion toward the southeast is anticipated over the next day or two, with a turn toward the east-northeast forecast on Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 100 km/h with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast during the next 72 hours, and Leslie could become a hurricane again on Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Leslie is not a threat to Jamaica.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.

***ANOTHER TROPICAL DEPRESSION FORMS OVER THE EAST ATLANTIC***

At 4:00 a.m., the centre of Tropical Depression Fifteen was located near latitude 10.3 North, longitude 29.7 West or about 760 km southwest of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands.
The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 19 km/h. A turn to the northwest is expected tonight and that general motion should continue on Wednesday and Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 55 km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the system is expected to become a tropical storm by tonight.

Tropical Depression Fifteen is not a threat to Jamaica.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
