*** INCREASED RAINFALL EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND ***

A broad area of low pressure drifting slowly northward over the eastern Yucatan Peninsula continues to become better organized. Environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive for development and there is a high chance for a subtropical or tropical depression to form over the Gulf of Mexico by this weekend.

Although the primary area of showers and thunderstorms from this system is expected to remain over the waters of the northwestern Caribbean Sea, associated activity is likely to result in increased rainfall across Jamaica.

Expect periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, across sections of most parishes, from Saturday through to Monday.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
