*** ... JOSE CONTINUES TO BRING TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS TO CAPE COD AND NEARBY ISLANDS......***

At 5:00 a.m. the center of Post Tropical Cyclone Jose was located near latitude 39.7 North, longitude 68.7 West or 200 km southeast of Nantucket Massachusetts. The post-tropical cyclone is moving slowly toward the west near 4 km/h. Jose is expected to meander well off the coast of New England for the next several days.

Maximum sustained winds remain to near 85 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast for the next 48 hours.


Tropical Storm Jose is not a threat to Jamaica.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.

***LEE MOVING SLOWLY WESTWARD OVER THE OPEN EASTERN ATLANTIC...***

At 4:00 a.m. the center of Tropical Storm Lee was located near latitude 13.0 North, longitude 35.4 West or 950 km west southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Lee is moving toward the west near 11 km/h, and this motion is forecast to continue through Monday morning. A west-northwestward motion is expected Monday afternoon.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 km/h with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast through Monday, and Lee is expected to weaken to a depression on Tuesday.

Tropical Storm Lee is not a threat to Jamaica at this time.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.

*** ... EYE OF MARIA NOW NEAR THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS... ...TORRENTIAL RAINS AND DANGEROUS HIGH WAVES STARTING TO SUBSIDE ALONG THE NORTH COAST OF HISPANIOLA....***



At 5:00 a.m. the center of Hurricane Maria was located near latitude 21.6 North, longitude 70.6 West or 55 km east northeast of Grand Turk island. Maria is moving toward the northwest near 11 km/h, and a motion toward the north-northwest is expected later today and Saturday. On the forecast track, Maria's eye will move near or just east of the Turks and Caicos Islands and southeastern Bahamas today.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 205 km/h with higher gusts. Maria is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. A gradual weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Hurricane Maria is not a threat to Jamaica.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
