*** JOSE MOVING A LITTLE FASTER NORTHWARD WITH NO CHANGE IN STRENGTH... ...DANGEROUS SURF AND RIP CURRENTS EXPECTED ALONG THE EAST COAST OF THE UNITED STATES...***

At 4:00 a.m. the center of Hurricane José was located near latitude 30.0 North, longitude 71.7 West or 705 km west southwest of Bermuda. José is moving toward the north near 13 km/h, and this general motion with slight increase in forward speed is expected through early
Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds have remained near 130 km/h with higher gusts. Some fluctuations in intensity are possible over the next couple of days, but Jose is forecast to remain a hurricane through early Tuesday.

Hurricane José is not a threat to Jamaica.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.

***LEE MOVING SLOWLY WESTWARD OVER THE OPEN EASTERN ATLANTIC...***

At 4:00 a.m. the center of Tropical Storm Lee was located near latitude 13.0 North, longitude 35.4 West or 950 km west southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Lee is moving toward the west near 11 km/h, and this motion is forecast to continue through Monday morning. A west-northwestward motion is expected Monday afternoon.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 km/h with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast through Monday, and Lee is expected to weaken to a depression on Tuesday.

Tropical Storm Lee is not a threat to Jamaica at this time.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.

***MARIA STRENGTHENING….***

At 4:00 a.m. the center of Tropical Storm Maria was located near latitude 13.0 North, longitude 54.9 West or 740 km east of the Lesser Antilles. Maria is moving toward the west-northwest near 24 km/h and this motion with a further reduction in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of Maria will be near the Leeward Islands Monday night.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 100 km/h with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Maria will likely become a hurricane later today.

Tropical Storm Maria is not a threat to Jamaica.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
