*** FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN PARISHES ***

The Meteorological Service has extended:

A Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas and Kingston and St. Andrew.

Effective until 5 p.m. today.

A Trough associated with Hurricane Jose to the north of the region is currently influencing the weather conditions across Jamaica. Satellite imagery and radar reports indicate that periods of light to moderate showers continued mainly across sections of eastern parishes throughout the night into early this morning.

Projections are for periods of light to moderate, and at times heavy showers and thunderstorms to continue affecting the island through to Monday.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
