*** HARVEY WEAKENS TO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION... ***

At 4:00 p.m. the centre of Tropical Depression Harvey was located near latitude 14.1 degrees north, longitude 70.0 degrees west or 225 km north-northwest of Curacao. Harvey is moving toward the west near 35 km/h, and this general motion is expected to continue through Sunday. On the forecast track, the centre of Harvey will move through the central and western Caribbean Sea through Monday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 55 km/h with higher gusts. Some slow strengthening is possible during the next couple of days, and Harvey could regain tropical storm status Sunday or Sunday night.

Although the centre of Tropical Depression Harvey is forecast to pass south of Jamaica, the island is expected to experience cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms Sunday through Monday. In addition, windy conditions are expected mainly across southern parishes on Sunday through Monday.

Marine interests, especially small craft operators who are in-port are advised not to venture out and those on the cays and banks south of Jamaica are advised to remain in safe harbour and exercise extreme caution as Tropical Depression Harvey traverses the waters south of Jamaica.

Tropical Depression Harvey is not a direct threat to Jamaica at this time.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor this system.
