***GERT BECOMES A POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE ***

At 4:00 pm the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Gert
was located near latitude 44.8 degrees North and longitude 46.0 degrees West or
1390 km east of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Post-Tropical Cyclone Gert is
moving toward the east-northeast near 63 km/h. Gert should move quickly toward the northeast
for a day or so, before slowing and merging with another low
pressure system over the weekend.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 100 km/h
with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next 36 to 48 hours.
