*** FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN AND CENTRAL PARISHES…. WATCH CONTINUES FOR WESTERN PARISHES***

The Meteorological Service has continued:

A Flash Flood Warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, Trelawny and St. Ann.
A Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover and St. James.
Effective until 5:00 a.m. on Sunday.
A broad Area of Low Pressure has now formed over the western Caribbean while a Tropical Wave remains across Jamaica. Shower activity associated with the Area of Low Pressure is showing signs of organisation and gradual development is expected to continue as the system moves slowly northwestward across the Yucatan Peninsula. Atmospheric conditions will therefore remain unstable and deteriorating weather conditions are expected to continue over Jamaica through to Sunday morning.
Satellite imagery and Radar reports indicate that light to moderate showers, and at times, heavy showers affected all parishes today with the greatest intensities across eastern and central parishes.
Projections are for light to moderate showers, and at times, heavy showers to continue to affect sections of all parishes this evening and tonight. Flash flooding is, therefore, likely over some low-lying and flood-prone areas of the island.
Fishers and other marine interests are advised to exercise caution, as strong gusty winds are likely in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING means that flooding has been reported or will occur shortly. Motorists and pedestrians should not attempt to cross flooded roadways or other low-lying areas as strong currents are likely. Residents in low-lying areas should be on the alert for rising waters and be ready to move quickly to higher ground.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
