*** FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN PARISHES ***

The Meteorological Service has:

• Continued the Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Ann, St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon and Manchester.

• Effective until 5:00 p.m. today.

• A persistent Trough continues to affect weather conditions over the western Caribbean and Jamaica. Satellite imagery and Radar reports indicated that light to moderate showers affected mainly hilly inland areas of eastern and central parishes during the late evening yesterday. A further decrease in associated rainfall is expected, however instability associated with the trough continues to affect the area over and around Jamaica.

• The forecast is for periods of showers, which could be heavy at times, to continue to affect sections of central and eastern parishes until this evening. Flash flooding is therefore possible over some low-lying and flood-prone areas of these parishes.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
