*** A TROUGH ACROSS JAMAICA CURRENTLY INFLUENCING WEATHER CONDITIONS.... ***
A Surface Trough that moved across Jamaica last night into this morning has been influencing the weather across the island, especially northern parishes today.
Satellite imagery and radar observations indicated that cloudy conditions along with light-to-moderate showers and thunderstorms have been affecting all northern parishes, especially St. Ann and St. Mary since early this morning. Additionally, there has been reports of flooding in Runaway Bay, St. Ann.
As the Trough drifts slowly away from the island, the forecast is for the showers affecting northern parishes to decrease this afternoon and evening, then becoming partly cloudy tonight. A High Pressure Ridge is expected to build across the island tonight into tomorrow. As a result, the forecast is for isolated showers mainly across hilly inland areas of northern parishes tomorrow.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
